The Skiing in SAALBACH-HINTERGLEMM-LEOGANG
The Skicircus of Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang covers some 200kms of piste and is cleverly interlinked across north and south faces of a long valley. The perfect resort for endless cruising along your choice of Greens, Blues, Reds or Blacks. The lift system is modern and efficient as is the free Skibus service in the valley that allows you to leapfrog ahead - if you are late for your luncheon appointment... Speaking of food, there are 46 mountain restaurants strewn across the mountainside, so you are never too far from a Strüdl, Heißeshokolade or Glühwein. The unique charm of the resort is present in every ancient timber of these fabulous alpine Hutte. And the lunchtime cuisine can be anything from Wurst und Chips to prime Venison steaks and fine wines.

Our ski hotels in Hinterglemm

Alpen Karawanserai**** The old Austrian hotel in the centre of Hinterglemm has undergone a complete transformation over the Summer of 2009. The "brand new" hotel is still under the ownership of the Sommerbichler family (whom we are sure many of you will have met during your stays), but has been renamed the "Alpen Karawanserai" in keeping with its ultra-modern conceptual look. These images are architects drawings - we can't wait to see what the hotel will look like "in the flesh". In the centre of town (right beside the Reiterkogelbahn lift) the hotel will be in marked contrast to the other buildings in Hinterglemm and we are very interested to see how it looks in a snowy Alpine setting. One thing is for sure though, you will be looked after in the same style and comfort by the Sommerbichlers and their friendly staff as ever before. Larger in size than before (now 90 rooms and suites) and with a greatly enlarged spa and pool area the Karawanserai is set to dominate the centre of Hinterglemm. |

Our ski hotels in Leogang
Landhotel Kirchenwirt**** In the centre of the rural hamlet of Leogang the Landhotel Kirchenwirt has stood beside the church since 1326 and overseen the goings on in Leogang for centuries. With only 17 bedrooms it is a quiet and exclusive little hideaway for those who appreciate a real Austrian atmosphere and are prepared to try their hand at the language. The rewards are genuine, old-fashioned, Austrian hospitality, outstanding food and peace and quiet in an intimate atmosphere. Once discovered, many of the hotel guests return year after year: more like staying with old friends than in a hotel. |

The hotel is not however totally antique! Hannes & Lisabeth Unterrainer the owners have added a small sauna and indoor hot-tub on the first floor. Perfect for a quiet moment after a long day on the slopes. And all the hotel rooms have the facility to create a steam room in the shower cubicle. There is a ski shop beside the hotel, which although small seems to have just about everything - and if they don't have it in stock, the owner is quite disposed to jump in his car and go and find it for you! Kirchenwirt ApartmentsA short walk from the hotel (100yds or so) there are some modern apartments that belong to the Unterrainer family also and are available to let. These are properly equipped with full kitchens, en-suite bedrooms, dining rooms and are perfect for parties or families who would like the flexibility of being able to self-cater on some evenings. Of course you may stay in the apartments and take breakfast and dinner at the hotel each day, or just breakfasts - the choice is yours! |
The skiing in Leogang
There is one ski lift in Leogang village, just 100yds from the hotel, that serves a quiet nursery slope - ideal for beginners, or for finding your legs again before you tackle the bigger stuff. There is also a ski-school in Leogang where we can arrange group or individual lessons for you; or just a guide.
The stairway to heaven though is just five minutes away by free (and frequent) Ski-Bus that will lift you up into the enormous Ski-circus of Saalbach and Hinterglemm where you can ski all day on different mountains and never have to visit the same charming alpine Stubl twice.
