Skiing Holidays in Breckenridge
THE SKI AREA
Click on the map above for an enormous version (.pdf file)
Skiing in Breckenridge is characterised by mile upon mile of moderately inclined trails where you can cruise around the peaks on perfectly prepared snow. The whole area is well linked with fast chairs so there is little or no queuing. A real joy is that a much of the skiing is below the tree line, so you can pick and choose your way down through the clearings. Should you be looking for a sterner test, there are steeper ungroomed areas above the tree-lines, in particular off the top of the Olympic Express Quad chair - highest lift in North America. If you are experimenting with off-piste for the first time, there are plenty of gently sloping open areas that are ideal for trying a few turns.
THE RESORT
The town of Breckenridge was around long before the skiing started so it has the feel of a real cowboy town. Originally a mining town (hence the less than imaginative "names" for the mountains) the Main Street is still composed of single-storey buildings, once home to purveyors of mining necessities, now stockists of skiing equipment, exotic drinks and fine food. However you will also find the occasional Saloon with swing doors - perfect for swaggering practice. |

GETTING THERE
The best airport for Breckenridge is Denver where we can arrange direct flights for you with British Airways or other US carriers.
From Denver Airport it is a two hour drive to Breckenridge, 90% of which is on Freeways. We can arrange a (4WD) hire vehicle for you to make the trip yourself and give you easy access to the other Colorado resorts. Or we can provide a Chauffeured mini-van for you: either exclusively for your party or book you onto one of the frequent scheduled trips.
