Skiing Holidays in Vail
THE SKI AREA

Click on the map above for an enormous version (.pdf file)
Vail has three distinct ski areas spread over three ridges behind the town and we would argue that it is the best ski area for accomplished to advanced skiers. The frontside of Vail mountain leads back down to the village and has mainly gentle broad trails: the famous Blue Sky Basin and legendary Back Bowls hold a wealth of light fluffy un-tracked snow for endless hours of off-piste fun.
THE RESORT
Vail Village The original town of Vail is quite small and composed mainly of apartment buildings with a few hotels. The centre of the village is pedestrians only and there are some good bars and restaurants although it is by no means a large resort. |

Lionshead The recent development of Lionshead on the western edge of town is now nearly completed. This modern plaza-style creation has been designed form the ground-up to provide quick access to the skiing along with walkways from the apartments and hotels to the range of bars and restaurants in the centre of Lionshead. |
GETTING THERE
The best airport for Vail is Denver to where we can arrange direct flights for you with British Airways or other US carriers. There is also an airport at Eagle, which is closer to Vail, but would involve a change of aircraft in the US.
From Denver Airport it is a two hour drive to Breckenridge, 90% of which is on Freeways. We can arrange a (4WD) hire vehicle for you to make the trip yourself and give you easy access to the other Colorado resorts. Or we can provide a Chauffeured mini-van for you: either exclusively for your party or book you onto one of the frequent scheduled trips.
ACCOMMODATION
If our recommendations below do not fit your bill, please enquire as there are an enormous number of other possibilities.
The Lodge at Vail Styled like an old alpine inn the Lodge at Vail provides elegant modern accommodation in its 165 bedrooms. The hotel is located in the heart of Vail village, extremely convenient for the skiing and the town. In addition to all the other amenities, there are two restaurants at the Lodge: The Wildflower described as "eclectic American" or try the Italian Cucina Rustica. |
