The Skiing in Argentière & Chamonix
The skiing in Chamonix is broken up between the main Chamonix resort and a couple of satellite resorts, Argentière being one of these. Plus you also have the testing off-piste glacier of the Vallée Blanche that runs down from Mont Blanc to take on (with a guide).

Our self catering ski apartments in Argentière - Le Cristal
The town of Chamonix is these days quite a busy town with hotels and restaurants clustered around its central square catering to the myriad of skiers and climbers who come here all through the year to get close to Europe's highest peak and the wonderful high Alpine scenery that surrounds it. Contrastingly, Argentière is a smaller, quieter village tucked away at the end of the valley. Nowadays it is by no means a quaint farming hamlet, but it still retains a little of that charm. Le Cristal d'Argentiere is situated in the centre of the village about 300 yards from the Grands Montets telecabine and beside the station and bus stop for the frequent ski-buses into Chamonix (a five minute journey). Although of recent construction the apartments have a real Alpine feel to their furnishings and decor. There are 65 apartments in total spread over five floors in four separate buildings - don't worry there have lifts too! There is a lovely indoor pool which is always great for relaxing after a hard day's skiing and really helps to ensure that you are in good shape to start again tomorrow. Some apartments also have saunas - please ask us at time of booking if you are interested? Handily the "community" also have a boulangerie and a laundromat is available too. There are plenty of shops in the village for purchasing food and drink and a supermarket in Chamonix if you prefer to stock-up for the week all in one go. |
Our prices include all bed linen (the beds will be made-up for your arrival) and final cleaning of the apartment (excluding the kitchen). |
Getting to Argentière & Chamonix
By Air
Situated in the northern Alps there are several ways to get to Chamonix. We can arrange flights for you to Geneva and transfers from there (or hire-cars) into the resort. You may also fly into Chambery, Grenoble or Lyon but the transfers are progressively longer).
Self-drive
Many skiers prefer to drive to themselves as it is a reasonable trip from Calais (about eight hours on motorways all the way) and having a car in the resort is very handy for getting between the various stations. We can book your Eurotunnel crossing for you at very good rates and even arrange overnight stops on the way to and from the resort. With all airlines now charging for skis, this route is becoming increasingly worthy of consideration.
